Unn Pedersen

Urban Viking women: Life in Kaupang in Skiringssal

Unn Pedersen is Associate Professor at The Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History at University of Oslo. Pedersen's areas of research are non-ferrous metalworking, technology, crafts, economy, urbanization and gender. Her research is based on studies of artefacts from Viking Age graves and settlements and she has been involved in the large scale archaeological excavations of the Viking Age town of Kaupang in Skiringssal. She gives public lecturers several times a year, has participated in the production of exhibitions, presents her research regularly in media, and has published three children's books. From 2019 onwards, she is the project leader of HEI: The Heritage Experience Initiative.
